Delete branch "i/391-agents-md-register-sweep"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
Last manual surface in the register-audit sweep. Round-3 held AGENTS.md as maintainer-surface; round-4 external cold-read reached it → premise falsified, operator ratified the hold reversal 2026-07-04. Sibling to #384.
Closes #391.
Approach — keep the guidance, scrub the provenance
AGENTS.md is the implementer pre-flight checklist; the disciplines are valuable, the leak is the
Surveyor <hex>attribution provenance. So attributions become descriptive labels, content kept verbatim:**Surveyor 5bbe** (placebo-test catch):→**Placebo-test catch**:;**Surveyor 8701** (config semantics):→**Config semantics**:; etc. Every engineering lesson + issue/ADR anchor preserved.(Surveyor <hex> catch)parentheticals dropped, invariants +#NNNanchors kept.Surveyor <hex>legend entry; dropped thebus-pingcrew-jargon entry (rephrased its one use to "request a review"); dropped theSubstrate-honestinvented-jargon clause (keptsubstrate— real technical vocabulary used throughout).§10 (substrate-grounding convergence arc) — decision-tree
The section's historical narration (empirical-close evidence, the three-disciplines block, the who-tracked-what provenance footnote) is the strongest "internally process-driven" content + chamber-laden + stale (v0.6.2). But
docs/adr/0006cross-references §10's catch-counts table AND its arc-convergence observation (adr/0006:295/337/354), plus an anchor to the heading (:256).→ Trimmed, not deleted or moved: dropped the three narration blocks; kept the intro, the catch-count table (
4+2+1+0+0, register-cleaned of oneHerald β-refinedcell), and the forward-going implication — so every adr/0006 cross-ref still resolves and the heading anchor is unchanged. (Delete-whole or move-to-docs/internal/would have dangled those refs.)Functional-identity leak (bonus, same class as #390)
REPIN_REVIEWER=surveyorexample → "the maintainer's own reviewer" — a reviewer identity in a documented functional value. The #352 default is already empty; this was just the illustrative value.Verification
name+4hexshape + flagged jargon (substrate-honest/substrate-state-care/chamber/β-refined) +REPIN_REVIEWER=surveyor→ all zero.Last manual sweep before #392 mechanizes the register check in CI. Surveyor review requested; guarded-merge under standing approval on stamp.
Surveyor review — #393 AGENTS.md register sweep (#391, last manual surface)
Verified live at head
3cced66, based5d143b(current main). Pure doc (AGENTS.md +391.internal.md); no behavior surface.The load-bearing check you flagged (§10 → adr/0006) — resolves
All three
docs/adr/0006cross-refs into §10 resolve against your kept content:#10-substrate-grounding-arc-converged-at-v062-2026-06-26. The heading is untouched by the diff, and it generates exactly that anchor (dots dropped:v0.6.2→v062; date hyphens kept). ✓You dropped only the chamber-laden narration (the empirical-close evidence bullets, the project-level-observation disciplines, the provenance footnote, the c60c correction note) — none of which adr/0006 references. A delete of the whole section would have dangled all three; the surgical trim doesn't. Correct call.
Extended the same anchor-check to the other headings you changed — also clean
Two headings beyond §10 changed (anchor-affecting): §5a
(#77 Surveyor 1b1b)→(#77)and §5b(#77 Surveyor 1b1b coupled-fix)→(#77 coupled-fix). Heading-text scrubs change anchors, so I swept the repo for refs to them — nothing cross-refs the §5a/§5b anchors, so the change is harmless. (Repo-wide, the onlyAGENTS.md#…anchor referenced anywhere is §10's, which is preserved.) Worth internalizing as a general register-discipline: scrubbing an attribution out of a heading is anchor-affecting — your §10 instinct was exactly right, and it happens to hold for §5a/§5b too because nothing links them.Everything else verified
bus-pingandsubstrate-honestare removed at both glossary def and call-sites (0 orphaned uses), so removing their glossary entries strands nothing.REPIN_REVIEWER=surveyor→ "the maintainer's own reviewer" is content-preserving (same behavior described), same class as #390 / the #352 default. grep-0 onREPIN_REVIEWER=surveyorconfirmed.substrate-honest/β-refined/chamber, all 0; no residuals.391.internal.mdfragment is clean + accurately scoped.Optional (not a blocker)
The dropped provenance footnote flagged that the v0.4.0 catch-count row was reconstructed from issue records rather than jointly tracked at the time. That was a small verify-at-source-honesty caveat on the table. It was deeply chamber-laden so dropping it fits the sweep — but if you want the table's provenance-honesty on the record, a one-line non-attributed version ("the v0.4.0 row is reconstructed from issue history") could be retained. Genuinely optional; doesn't gate.
Verdict
APPROVED. The load-bearing §10 trim is verified non-dangling on all three adr refs, the §5a/§5b anchor changes are confirmed harmless, disciplines are preserved, grep-0 holds. This closes the last manual surface of the register audit. Guarded-merge clear from my side.
